The Now, The New & The Next in Careers
Seth Butler, Thought Leadership Advisory Council
I currently serve as the Director
of Intercultural Student Services at the University of Findlay where I lead
initiatives focused on creating a more welcoming and inclusive environment for
the community. I never would have guessed that my professional life would be in the areas of higher education and career services, but alas, this is where I am. As an elite former D-I Track & Field athlete, I had aspirations of pursuing a career as a professional runner. When those dreams came to halt, I found myself in a place where I lacked direction on what to pursue next, which caused me to seek out help from career counselors that I had established relationships with during my time as a college athlete. This was the catalyst that sparked my journey into the field of career services within higher education. As someone who has gone through the anxiety of not knowing “what comes next,” I intentionally use my experience to help clients work through similar situations and provide tangible action steps based on their unique circumstances. As a higher educational professional, much of my work continues to be with college students working on issues of diversity and inclusion, and continuing to serve the Career Center through workshops and presentations. My passion for career services led to starting my own consultancy where I could impact more than just college students. I am now the co-founder of B&B Career Consulting where we focus on helping clients make their next best move in their careers. When I am not working with clients, you can find me playing basketball at the local rec center, or spending time with my family.
