“My eyes are burning!”
This was my exclamation as ChatGPT typed out a sales professional resume in front of me with an “Objective” at the top.
Although there were a few elements that made the AI-created resume a no-go as it came across the screen, there were elements that we and our clients could use and an important lesson in the power of our work in helping people craft their personal stories. As we look toward a new year, this is a time of reflection. To consider the 2022 chapter of our story – our accomplishments and our joys that we want to carry forward.
Our Career Industry Authority group has enjoyed these reflection questions and perhaps these prompts can be helpful for you as well. For 2022:

It’s a time to look at 2023 and determine what we want more of and how we will craft our life/work integration to achieve those goals. Here are a few points to reflect on as you look toward 2023: -

For me, 2023 will be a year of community. Building deeper connections with our certification graduates, CTL Associates, and Career Industry Authority members now that we have technology support to do so.
The celebration of this growing community will be in beautiful sunny California when we get together again in person March 26–29, 2023. It will be the highlight of my year and I can’t wait!

This program will provide writers, university career center folks, military transition experts, and coaches with powerful insights to help clients tell their stories more effectively and advance their careers. The content will provide a brief overview of theory and delve into specific education on actual practice.
Interactive exercises will give attendees a chance to model new skills. An array of handouts will be provided ranging from students to senior-level executives. |

PRESENTER BIOS: Jan has been helping colleagues and clients—from new graduates to C-suite executives—for 20+ years. She earned her master's degree from Wesleyan University and holds two undergraduate degrees in business. She teaches English and business at the University of South Florida and Bay Path University. Her newest book is MODERNIZE YOUR EXECUTIVE JOB SEARCH with co-author Louise Kursmark and TELLING TALES: ON MERLIN'S ISLAND is her first novel.
In 2004, after Deb Dib became one of the first Certified Personal Branding Strategists, her mentor William Arruda encouraged her to niche to clients whom she respected for their vision and values. She gulped and dared greatly. No sharks or suits! Almost immediately gutsy, fun, ethical execs became her clients. She did the daring greatly happy dance!
Fast-forward to now; she's grateful and humbled to be considered a leading voice in personal branding and career communications innovation. And she's dared greatly again, moving from B2C clients to serving B2B career industry colleagues. Louise was the first person worldwide to earn the Master Resume Writer credential and has won 6 “best resume” awards. Among her favorite things in life, in addition to her friends and family, are traveling, biking, visiting baseball stadiums around the country, and sharing success strategies with a room full of career professionals. |
