"Take your own yellow brick road and meet your own inner wizard." - Calm App Reflection

AI can write resumes, cover letters, and interview scripts, oh my!

The internet is buzzing about the new technology, ChatGPT, that can write resumes and cover letters.

Similar technology has been writing blogs for marketers for the last few years. Most marketing professionals have learned that it is great to create a framework or get you started, and it requires editing and livening with a story to create an effective blog.

As we were teaching our storytelling class this week, we discussed how this will be true with resumes and cover letters - at least for the foreseeable future.

Artificial intelligence cannot - yet - write your story. If you are writing resumes full of duties and generic statements, yes, AI can write that. It can even, scarily, write some points that sound like stories (with fake numbers!), but those aren't your clients stories.

There are many great ways to use this new technology to do research, get ideas of what should be included in a resume (although I'll argue that your real target job descriptions still need to be part of the plan here), and more.

If we as career service providers want to be effective and continue to thrive in the future, it will be important we learn how to use these systems and we learn how to education clients about the dangers of relying on them too much.

If you want a deeper dive into these systems and what they mean for your work, join me for our Trend Tuesday next week!

                                          TUESDAY (3/28/23) WORKSHOP

Callings: The Power of Passionate Work

People who are fueled by a sense of calling about their work—a deep feeling of fit and purpose, a match between who they are and what they do—will bring that kind of passion and spirit to their jobs and careers, their companies and communities, their lives and the lives of others.

This presentation is designed around a series of self-reflective questions—as well as discussion, brainstorming, dyad and small-group work—geared to assisting career- and workforce-development professionals in helping students & clients clarify their sense of calling. But we'll also approach the questions and tools first-person, to get a feel for them ourselves, in the process helping you—and those you counsel and coach—gain clarity and courage to take whatever Next Steps will deepen alignment with those callings. These steps could be to make a creative leap or career change, launch a new venture or collaboration, take on a new role or let go of an old one, or make any course-correction in your professional or personal life.

We’ll also explore the questions that arise naturally in the presence of any call: What does it ask of us? How do we tell the true call from the false? How do we handle our resistance to it? What happens when we say no? What happens when we say yes?

                                          TUESDAY (3/28/23) CONCURRENT SESSION

Practical Tips for Growing Your Business with Corporate Clients - Carol Parker Walsh

If you've been doing career and personal brand coaching for a few years now, chances are you have a successful practice. However, less than 10% of coaches make over 6 figures in their coaching practice. While there are a variety of reasons that those in the coaching industry struggle to break the 6-figure mark consistently in their business, one of the reasons is that it's difficult to create long-term coaching relationships or get repeat business from clients.

Too many coaches offer one-and-done services and feel constrained by the amount they can charge for their services. However, career coaches and personal brand experts can double or even triple your annual revenue by adding corporate clients to your business.

In this workshop, Carol will share her experience working with corporate clients for the past 20 years and provide practical tips to help you land corporate clients.

                                          You'll Learn
