Issue 376 | December 3, 2021

“Learning never exhausts the mind.” – Leonardo Da Vinci, the genius and most influential artist in history

Happy December! It is usually one of the busiest months for career services providers with all our potential and former clients deciding now is the time to start making sure they have what they need to attain those new year’s career goals.

How are you setting boundaries to protect your wellbeing this holiday season?

Here are a few thoughts for managing this busy time:

  • Decide when you want to work and when you don’t and stick to it. A calendaring app is great for this, as long as you don’t start offering times outside that window to prospects via email!
  • Use this busy time as a catalyst to start systemizing your process. Capture those emails you send every time. Yes, it will take a few minutes, but it will save even more.
  • Block out your calendar for more “me time” than usual. You have more errands to run and will have a hard time focusing if you don’t have time to get those done.
While this may be a busy time, it is also your time to plan to achieve what you want out of 2022.

I’ve shared with some of you before that I enjoy the Full Focus planner system from Michael Hyatt (this is my affiliate link). If you order, let me know and we’ll do a bonus 30-minute planning call together!

What else are you doing to plan YOUR year for 2022? Join me live on Tuesday as I’ll share a few ideas and would love to hear yours.

Oh, and if designing more modern resumes faster is on your list of goals for 2022, you absolutely do not want to miss the session on December 9th when Cassie Olsen is going to go through all her tips and tricks for resume design!

DEC 9 | Formatting Mastery: Design Resumes That Appeal to Humans & Bots

The latest Jobvite Recruiter Nation study showed that resume format is of increasing importance to recruiters.

This doesn’t mean that they are looking for fancy, designer-style resumes! It does mean that they want resumes that are easy to skim and find what they need.

Neuroscience also tells us that design elements that improve readability also make a document more modern.

But how do you achieve those looks WHILE making the resume ATS-friendly (yes, both are possible on the same document!)?

How do you make sure your clients STAND OUT without getting screened out?

Learn from award-winning resume writer Cassie Olson and RWA CEO Marie Zimenoff!

                They’re ready to give you:

                • Step-by-step guidance to create modern ideas that are also ATS-friendly
                • Inspiration and fresh ideas to design resumes that stand out
                • Tips and tricks to do it all quickly, so your clients fit their perfect fit faster
                We’re going to cover:
                • Design neuroscience – why it isn’t just about looking pretty
                • Headers, graphics, vectors, testimonials and quotes, and smart art
                • Color (with a fun tool for getting just the right one) and foundations (margins, paragraph spacing)
                • Columns – two ways to create them that are both ATS-friendly (and what to be careful of for readability)

…and more. Plus, if you attend live, you get an opportunity to design and get feedback during the session!

Whether you join live – Dec. 9 from 2:00-4:00 PM ET – or watch the recording, you’ll receive sample resumes for inspiration, PLUS a step-by-step PDF guide to achieve these looks for yourself.

Don’t wait to buy your ticket! Spaces are going fast.

DEC 7 | Social Media for Job Search Strategist Class Launch Pricing Ends

Did you know that more recruiters are using Facebook to recruit than LinkedIn according to Jobvite's 2021 research?

While LinkedIn is still important in job search, there are many opportunities for clients to use other platforms - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and more - to engage with hiring managers, speed up their job search, and get the job they want.

In 4 weeks, this program will give you strategies most coaches aren't using to help job seekers get hired faster by identifying the channels where they can engage with target companies and having processes, scripts, and other tools to execute their search.

Classes will be recorded and students will have lifetime access to recordings.

Week 1: Strategy & LinkedIn (catch the replay)

                  • Clarifying Job Search Focus
                  • Evaluating Social Platforms for Use in Search
                  • Using Advanced LinkedIn Search Techniques for Job Search
                  • Optimizing LinkedIn, Facebook, IG & Twitter Profiles ** NOTE: This is not a writing class. We will focus on more proactive search strategies while touching on profile optimization (and giving you a checklist to optimize it!)

                  Week 2: LinkedIn & Twitter (Dec. 7)

                  • Maximizing LinkedIn's Jobs Feature
                  • Using a Relationship-Building System
                  • Employing Hashtag Strategies for Research
                  • Maximizing Scripts for Connecting

                  • Maximizing FB Jobs Features
