Issue 375 | November 18, 2021

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” – Peter Drucker

What a fun week we’ve been having at Career Jam!

We've learned about technology that can use your LinkedIn profile to tell a hiring manager how best to reach out to you (perfectly identifying my DiSC profile and a few other characteristics from my LinkedIn!).

We've learned about new tools to help job seekers track jobs and talked about how they can use sales and marketing tools to their benefit to scale job search conversations.

We've heard about the top jobs for 2021 and beyond -- remembering that they're not all in tech!

And we've talked about the importance of working with all our leaders to understand how leadership is evolving to be inclusive and empathetic (and that this term doesn't apply to specific titles).

We joked a bit about feeling like dinosaurs after being overwhelmed by the onslaught of new technology many of our speakers discussed. But those who attended Career Jam are now aware of the leading edge in our industry and ready to go out and make use of these tools and new information with clients.

Pretending change isn't happening or that it won't impact our work won't make it go away.

You don't have to attend Career Jam to stay on top of it all (although I do love hearing the "Ooo" and "Awe" of those attending), and as we look at these last few weeks of 2021, I'd encourage you to carve out some time to consider how what you do will change next year.

What are you reading? What one new tool or technology are you making sure clients are aware of in their search? What year are your favorite resources from on the key topics in your work?

I'd love for you to Reply and let me know some of your favorite resources. And, if you are looking for some to add to your toolbox or reading list, you can check out last year's white paper or --- ONLY through December 4 --- purchase the recordings, transcripts, and other materials from Career Jam 2021.

NOV 30 | Social Media for Job Search Strategist Class Starts

Did you know that more recruiters are using Facebook to recruit than LinkedIn according to Jobvite's 2021 research?

While LinkedIn is still important in job search, there are many opportunities for clients to use other platforms - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and more - to engage with hiring managers, speed up their job search, and get the job they want.

In 4 weeks, this program will give you strategies most coaches aren't using to help job seekers get hired faster by identifying the channels where they can engage with target companies and having processes, scripts, and other tools to execute their search.

Classes will be recorded and students will have lifetime access to recordings.

                Week 1: Strategy & LinkedIn (Nov. 30)

                • Clarifying Job Search Focus
                • Evaluating Social Platforms for Use in Search
                • Using Advanced LinkedIn Search Techniques for Job Search
                • Optimizing LinkedIn, Facebook, IG & Twitter Profiles ** NOTE: This is not a writing class. We will focus on more proactive search strategies while touching on profile optimization (and giving you a checklist to optimize it!)

                Week 2: LinkedIn & Twitter (Dec. 7)
