Why does looking at the new and the next matter?
For our clients, recognizing the "writing on the wall" when their industry is shifting or their company is struggling can mean less time unemployed or an opportunity to lead proactive initiatives and prevent problems.
How do we share the importance of this with our clients? How do we help them track the trends? Hit reply and let me know!
Here are a few actions we can take to track the trends:
- Set aside time to skim those industry emails that you get. If you aren't already tuned in to some in your industry, do a search to start and then use this as a networking question with leaders in your industry. What are they reading? You'll also get ideas from what they share on social.
- Get focused. You can't know everything about everything. When you are clear on your "content pillars" (where your expertise and your target audience's interests overlap) it's easier to stay up to date on what matters.
- Join communities. You don't have to do it on your own! Find those professional associations or informal communities where people are sharing perspectives... the more diverse the better. Getting engaged in these conversations will have a plethora of benefits.
I look forward to seeing you Tuesday for the 2023 Career Industry Trends announcement!

OCT 19 | Standout Resumes & Profiles for Students, Recent Graduates & Young Professionals
|
|
Despite talent shortages, graduating students face many challenges when entering the job market and landing positions that use their degree, pay a living wage, and offer growth opportunities.
Young professionals have suffered the last few years with increased competitiveness in many desirable fields, work gaps caused by COVID, and virtual onboarding slowing their career progression.
If you work with students in a university setting, with graduating students, or with students or young professionals in your private practice, this Master-E-Session is for you.
During this 2-hour, content-packed session, you will learn strategies for writing resumes that help your students stand out from the crowd.
This Master-E-Session covers:
- How to gather content from minimal experience when working with students who have focused on studies with minimal work or internship experience or have participated in intercollegiate sports, leaving little time for work.
- How to position a non-traditional student in a new field, building on their existing skills and highlighting their recent training to help them start over or land a position that honors their experience.
- How to uncover and format experience from various sources - classes, volunteering, student leadership, extra-curricular activities, internships, practicums, and more - to build content-rich documents.
- How to write documents that help student and young professional resumes pass through applicant tracking systems (ATS) by overcoming a lack of keywords - and other tricks.
- How to help students and graduates build virtual resumes on various social and web platforms.
- How to determine when a designer or infographic resume is appropriate and examples you or your students can use to build effective visual resumes.
We'll also be talking briefly about the job search process for this audience and how they can jump-start their search with just a few simple steps.
The 20+ pages of handouts include more than 10 sample resumes and links to resources that can help you take your resumes from elementary to outstanding!
What you'll get:
- 2 hours of interactive webinar training (live and recorded)
- Samples of letters, resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and more PLUS resources and tools to use with clients as you create their differentiating documents.
Get access to the live session, video recording, and handout. Join us live and view the session whenever you wish as often as you wish!
