There are 10 million job openings in the US alone right now. Yet the competition (and number of applicants) for many desirable jobs is at an all-time high.
This is creating huge opportunities for resume writers and career coaches to help people navigate career decision-making and a competitive job search.
It has been so fulfilling this week to talk with more than 100 resume writers about how they can improve their writing process and operations to better serve clients and make time for new projects. People are creating email templates, looking at automation tools like WriteSea, implementing or adjusting their questionnaire, and creating follow-up templates to close more sales or earn referrals.

Job Search: Automated Hiring Software Is Mistakenly Rejecting Millions of Viable Job Candidates (The Verge)
A new report from Harvard found that ATS is rejecting qualified workers. Note that the reports point mostly to keywords (not formatting issues!). The immediate response from many recruiters on social media was that automated rejection is not as prevalent as this report would make it sound (the report only covers companies that use automated rejection but does not indicate how prevalent that practice is). My guess? It will be even less prevalent thanks to this article. Our takeaway? Keywords matter and networking to be that referred candidate matters even more. |
