Issue 406 | July 8, 2022

"The thankful receiver bears a plentiful harvest." - William Blake, 19th Century English poet

I was overwhelmed with emotion last week as our new neighbors stopped by, introduced themselves, and offered to help us move in or use space in their trash cans.

We moved into our last neighborhood at the beginning of COVID. Meeting neighbors wasn’t on anyone’s mind.

Last week’s starkly different experience reminded me of the power each of us holds to make others feel welcomed, seen, and valued.

As we start to get back to in-person networking, remind your clients that it isn’t about their elevator pitch. It’s about being human. Asking questions. Showing interest and concern for others.

What other tips do you share with job seekers to connect on a human level at networking events?

Making others feel seen and valued can take away so much of the anxiety that comes when we’re worried about what to say about ourselves!

This concept also applies to our online networking. Posing thoughtful comments on our network’s posts demonstrates this same concern for others. If your client is just getting started online, make that their focus instead of what content they will share.

As a bonus, clients can keep those comments in an organized way and have a good start to content when they are ready to share.

If you want the full suite of checklists, worksheets, and scripts to help clients search using social media tools -- including new LinkedIn features and beyond -- join us for our new Social Media for Job Search Strategist program starting THIS WEDNESDAY July 13!

July 13 | Social Media for Job Search Strategist

Recruiters are diversifying the social media tools they use to find candidates. Are your coaching tools keeping up?

According to the latest Jobvite study, recruiters are increasingly using Facebook, Instagram, and even TikTok to find job seekers. If our clients are only focused on getting found on LinkedIn, they are missing out on opportunities to connect with their target companies.

Of course, LinkedIn is a powerful tool for job seekers. But optimizing a profile is just the start. They don't want to sit around waiting to get found! Help them use LinkedIn and other social tools to make connections and become known so they are the referred candidate for their ideal jobs.

In 4 weeks, this program will give you strategies most coaches aren't using to help job seekers get hired faster by identifying the channels where they can engage with target companies and using processes, scripts, and other tools to execute their search.

Classes will be recorded and students will have lifetime access to recordings.

                            Week 1: Strategy & LinkedIn (July 13, 2:00-3:30 ET)

                            • Clarifying Job Search Focus
                            • Evaluating Social Platforms for Use in Search
                            • Using Advanced LinkedIn Search Techniques for Job Search
                            • Optimizing LinkedIn, Facebook, IG & Twitter Profiles ** NOTE: This is not a writing class. We will focus on more proactive search strategies while touching on profile optimization (and giving you a checklist to optimize it!)

                            Week 2: LinkedIn & Twitter (July 20, 2:00-3:30 ET)

                            • Maximizing LinkedIn's Jobs Feature
                            • Using a Relationship-Building System
                            • Employing Hashtag Strategies for Research
                            • Maximizing Scripts for Connecting

                            Week 3: Instagram & Facebook (August 3, 2:00-3:30 ET)

                            • Using Groups & Company Pages
                            • Employing Hashtag Strategies for Research

                            • Maximizing FB Jobs Features

Week 4: TikTok, Snapchat, Niche Sites & Executing the Plan (August 10, 2:00-3:30 ET)

                            • Using Strategies for Job Search on Niche Sites
                            • Speeding Search with Job Search Planning & Tracking

July 20 | Resume & Profile Master-E-Session: Making Career Change Dreams a Reality

The Great Resignation continues, and more people than ever before are considering or attempting to make a career change. Employers are seeing record numbers of applications for positions, many of whom do not demonstrate that they are qualified for the role. They need your help!

Career changers fail to connect the dots so the new hiring managers can quickly see they are qualified for the new role. How can they build a resume and profile that open doors in a new industry or career path based on their existing experience?

In this Resume and Profile Master-E-Session, Lori Jazvac and Marie will take you beyond the fluff of “transferrable skills” to communicate your candidate’s value and help them land interviews in their new area of focus.

Through two hours of training and ample samples, you will learn strategies for writing resumes and LinkedIn profiles that address common career change challenges for today’s mobile workforce, including:

                              • Candidates transitioning out of troubled industries like education, healthcare, and mortgages
                              • Candidates transitioning into high-growth and attractive industries
                              • Candidates who retired and are now returning to the workforce
                              • Candidates who are moving out of corporate environments and looking for government or nonprofit work
                              • Candidates who are adding a side-hustle or shifting into entrepreneurial endeavors
                              • And more!

This Master-E-Session will provide tools you can use to improve outcomes – including questions to gather great content, inspiration to write strong accomplishments, examples to freshen up your formats, and much more!

The handout includes sample resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and cover letters plus resources, questionnaires, and tools to build your confidence in taking on projects for this growing candidate pool.

Master-E-Sessions are easy to attend – live or recorded:

The concept of “passion” can be overwhelming for some of our clients. For the past 5 years or so, there has been debate about whether the advice to “follow your passion” is helpful or harmful to careers. Passion is only one aspect of our career inner compass – helpful but challenging for many clients if they aren’t exploring the other aspects of their brand foundation.
