A few weeks ago, I shared my early struggle as a presenter - feeling like I had to be someone else to be effective and floundering to find my voice. So why did I persist? I saw teaching and training as an opportunity to change so many more lives than I could doing coaching alone! What changed the tide for me and helped me find my way as a presenter was an opportunity to sit with a sought-after trainer one night before a conference. |

He shared with me that he, too, was introverted. And he let me in on a secret: his introversion was a gift. Some of the most talented speakers and trainers are introverted. Instead of focusing on their own performance, they have a heightened focus on the audience. What will benefit them? How do you draw them into the story? This is something I'm still working on, and every time I go to a training to be a more effective trainer, they reinforce the power of storytelling. Storytelling is the connector. It is required for people to remember concepts. Good storytellers don't simply tell a story. They engage their readers or audience to the point where they can put themselves into the story. Of course, the other key lesson here is that we have to be ourselves to connect with the audience. We must lean into our own strengths and ways of being. What are your strengths in telling stories? Asperger’s/Autism Employment Coach Certification Summer 2021
The Asperger’s/Autism Employment Coach Certification is an 8-week program that features live instruction and mentoring. It focuses on how to assist individuals to choose the right career, find a job, and stay hired. Weekly sessions are live over the Internet, and feature discussions, interactive exercises, and case studies. Assignments include readings, short answer questions, and case study reviews. Participants gain hands-on experience during a 6-week supervised practicum. The summer program begins on June 17 with morning sessions. Group size is limited and an application is required.
