Thirteen years ago this month, an internship with a career services business owner changed the trajectory of my career (and life!) forever. It was a bumpy start! When I wrote my first resume for this company, the other writer at the firm told me that writing resumes wasn't for everyone. In the first workshop I co-presented with my mentor, I got feedback that I was boring. |

I guess I'm a sucker for a challenge, because that set the course for me to learn everything I could about resume writing and earn my first certification in six months (even though you were supposed to wait two years to submit for it). What challenges have you dug in your heals to overcome? It's funny how now those are some of my favorite memories. After struggling for at least a year, I finally decided it was time to take formal training in presentations to feel more comfortable. The lightbulb went off when the instructor for this course gave me permission to be me -- warm, caring, thoughtful in my instruction -- instead of what I had been trying to be (my mentor) -- fun, entertaining, boisterous. As I talk to colleagues in the Digital Branding class, I am grateful to watch a few of them start this same process -- finding the power that comes when we find and appreciate our authentic voice. The world needs you to be you! I can't wait to hear and see the unique story you have to share and the increased value that will bring to your clients.

Asperger’s/Autism Employment Coach Certification Summer 2021
The Asperger’s/Autism Employment Coach Certification is an 8-week program that features live instruction and mentoring. It focuses on how to assist individuals to choose the right career, find a job, and stay hired. Weekly sessions are live over the Internet, and feature discussions, interactive exercises, and case studies. Assignments include readings, short answer questions, and case study reviews. Participants gain hands-on experience during a 6-week supervised practicum.
