"Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." - Desmond Tutu, South African Anglican cleric and human rights activist

True confession ... I love office products. I'm always on the search for the best pen and almost never write with black or blue ink.

Currently, I using a new Full Focus Planner (thank you Jessica Hernandez for the tip!) and a paper journal for daily notes.

Then, of course, you have all the digital tools: a calendar for me, a scheduling system, project management, contact management and beyond ... whew! And still I love learning about others that could be helpful.

What are your favorite productivity tools? Please reply to this email and let me know!

This week (tomorrow!), we're doing our second 11 am ET Friday conversation on Clubhouse -- "Bring in the Dough, Career Pro" -- and the topic will be productivity systems and tools. Our handle is @careerleaders.

My productivity / project management coach, Emily Allen, will be joining me. I'd love for you to join as well and share what's working for you!

If you're not on Clubhouse, we have colleagues that have invitations and would be happy to help you get started (just on iPhone for the next few weeks). Hit reply to let me know or drop a post into the CTL Facebook group so others can provide an invitation for you!

SAVE THE DATE FOR TECH JAM -- JUNE 7-11!

We have a fun group of tech and productivity speakers lining up and will open registration May 10.

We look forward to interacting with you on Clubhouse (and, of course, on our weekly Live on Facebook and LI)!

TODAY, MAY 6 | Resume & Profile Strategies for Challenging Career Situations

Recent research shows that 70% of people who are currently unemployed have been unemployed for 6+ months. If you are working with clients who:

      • have been out of work for a long period,
      • stayed home to take care of family,
      • are transitioning out of the military,
      • have been incarcerated,
      • or face other significant career challenges, this session is for you!

We’ll go through strategies these clients can use in their resumes and LinkedIn profiles to stand out in a good way and not raise red flags that keep them from getting called in to interviews.

MAY 27 | Academy Certified Career Storyteller

Modern marketing communications have moved away from a pitch to share an engaging plot... stories that pull in a reader and make them want to connect with the brand, product, or person.

If you are ready to write materials that captivate readers, differentiate clients from the competition, and open the door to conversation, this advanced program is for you!

In this program, instructors Louise Kursmark, Deb Dib, and Marie Zimenoff will share a step-by-step process for gathering stories and writing content that connects with your client’s target audience: from resumes and cover letters to profiles, professional introductions, formal bios, and more.

      You’ll walk away with:

      • an understanding of the neuroscience behind stories so you can strengthen the connection with your reader
      • tools to identify client brand attributes and gather stories so you communicate your client’s unique promise of value in their voice (which also means you'll write faster!)
      • steps (with examples!) to turn stories into content in a variety of ways so you can write stories for more traditional clients and those who want to be bold with their stories
      • confidence based on experience writing storied resumes, profiles, and more, with detailed written feedback from instructors and peer input (structured and instructor-facilitated in class)
      • lifetime inclusion in the Academy Certified Career Storyteller directory, RWA community conversations, and other perks offered to RWA graduates (no renewals and no membership required to maintain certification)

If you want to be confident in writing powerfully fresh and compelling client materials – join us for this in-depth training!
