“The eyes experience less stress when they can look upon a wider horizon.” – R. D. Chin, Feng Shui Master & Architect

Well, I did it!

Last week I launched my first LinkedIn newsletter.

While the thought of keeping up with yet another thing was daunting, feedback from a recent poll we’d done with some of you showed that you were looking for a way to get data on the latest trends and the changes those indicate in our work.

The newsletter will be a place to dive deeper and add to the content in the white paper. We’ll digest a bit of the data there, talk about the implications, and share new data that didn’t align with the specific trends in the paper.

If you have topics you’d like me to cover, please reply and let me know!

The live streams on Tuesday will be another way to cover that information for those of you who prefer video and I’d love your ideas on topics for those conversations or to have you as my guest if you have a specific area you’d like to talk about.

If you are looking to boost your visibility or business prospect list and you haven’t looked at LinkedIn’s newsletter feature, I’d recommend checking it out. While there is some work to be done to connect to those who subscribe, the opportunity to get the word out is pretty powerful.

(Psst…if you are a CIA member we’ve talked about this in our Business Owner Strategy Session and we have and will talk about it more there and in our Digital Branding Strategist Third Thursday 30s!).

I’ll find a short video clip from one of those sessions and share it in the Facebook group and our new Mighty Networks community (if you haven’t checked it out – please do!).

                      JAN 28 | A Strengths-Based Approach: Coaching What’s Strong vs. What’s Wrong

Join us as we welcome strengths expert, Jennifer James, who brings a corporate coaching background in many industries to her strengths-based coaching.

If you've never attended a CTL workshop, you are in for a treat! You'll walk away with practical tools you can use with clients – backed by neuroscience and sure to change your client outcomes.

Jennifer will share a holistic strengths model, tools (including and beyond the Gallup Strengths), and practical strategies to guide clients in identifying their strengths.

Attendees will get an 11-page handout full of tools they can use the next day with their clients plus insights on incorporating tools like Clifton Strengths and VIA into your work.

Jennifer will also help you understand the balconies and basements of strengths and teach coaching techniques to uncover causes behind basement behavior. Then, she'll share how we can leverage their strengths to get clients back on track.

                      The tools and session include:

                      • A holistic strengths model and brain-based foundation for strengths coaching
                      • Coaching questions to guide people in using their strengths
                      • Tools and questions to integrate strengths into everyday life (I love this as sometimes strengths can seem abstract to clients!)
                      • Coaching strategies for helping people out of the "basement" related to their strengths
                      • Plus, a list of other tools and coaching questions (which your colleagues will add to during the session)

This will be a reflective, interactive session where you'll walk away with personal insights and a spark of energy in addition to these tools for your clients.

All who register get access to the live session, recording, and handout.

APR 11 | CTL Annual Symposium - Meet Our Speakers!

Join us for 3 days -- in person -- to learn, connect, and get to know other leaders in the career services industry!

The CTL leadership team is known for putting together a leading-edge curriculum for all our events, and the annual professional development symposium always brings the best minds together for you to learn from.

Do you want to get the latest information, but hate when you feel like you didn't apply anything you learned? Us, too!

Even before it was cool, we were creating unique spaces for professionals to share their expertise. We know adults learn by sharing, questioning, and integrating information. We work with our presenters to make sure each presentation gives you not only the latest information but time and space to share, integrate, and make that information actionable.

Read more about Susan and Michelle's presentation below. They've planned an activity for you to experience at the event and then take to use with your clients!

Will it be recorded or simulcasted? Not this event...

While we do extensive virtual training throughout the year (for 15+ years running), we also know the power of focus that comes with attending a live, in-person event. That is why we are so excited to bring this back...safely! Please see our COVID protocols (and city of Philadelphia mandates) here. One of the points people loved about our virtual event in 2021 was the transcripts, so we will be audio recording and providing transcripts ONLY FOR ATTENDEES so you can get more value from your attendance.

Can't attend live last minute? Don't worry. We have options ready to go for you to get the value from your investment.

Here's a little taste of what you can expect from our presenters Susan Chritton & Michelle Carroll.

Journey from Transition to Renewal: Insights from the Inside

Change is everywhere. Clients seek our services when they are undergoing a change in their lives. Guiding them through the tasks is not enough. To truly add value, we must understand what happens to a person on the inside during times of transition.

This interactive presentation will give you a little bit of theory so that you can have a solid foundation of what transition is. You will be guided through a process that you can use for yourself and for your clients who are experiencing transition. You will also have a chance to walk the Cycle of Renewal, giving you an embodied sense of what transition feels like.

By the end of the session, you will be able to understand and embrace this quote by William Bridges.

“It isn’t the changes that do you in, it’s the transitions. Change is situational – the new site, the new boss, the new role. Transition is the psychological process people go through to come to terms with the new situation. Change is external, transition is internal.”

                        About Susan Chritton

When she was young, Susan Chritton's favorite board game was called Careers. She loved that she got to choose her formula for fame, fortune and happiness, and then create her own winning strategy. It had a special magic. Now, as an Executive Coach, she uses her magic to guide thousands of people through changes in their lives. She helps them understand and develop their unique formulas and strategies—even if they come with blank slates.

The outcome? Her clients enhance their careers, work towards their goals and live more authentic and satisfying lives. They play by their rules—and they love it. What is your formula for a good life? Do you love it?

Through 20+ years of work in the careers field as Master Career Counselor, Master Personal Branding Strategist and Hudson Certified Master Coach, Susan has found that she loves Personal Branding. It’s one of the best tools she uses to help clients find their formulas. That’s why she wrote Personal Branding for Dummies. She's grateful her readers made it the #1 Personal Branding book on Amazon for years.

Part of my personal brand is a commitment to her profession and the community. She serves on the Board of the Career Thought Leaders think tank; facilitates Personal Branding certification programs; trains coaches to align their brands with their practices; and speaks on Personal Branding, Career Development and Positive Psychology.

In her free time, she enjoys family and friends, attending classes, participating in book clubs, traveling the world, and riding her red Vespa to yoga class.

                        Her unique formula?
Deep knowledge, good judgment and intelligence. Adventure, enthusiasm and curiosity. A lively sense of humor, unbridled optimism and a laugh that bubbles up. And that Vespa…
