What is Career Jam?

An intense, energizing, enjoyable day to participate in learning, exploration, and discovery of best practices and emerging trends within the careers industry.

We’re celebrating the 10th year of this international event! You will learn about these megatrends during an exclusive webinar on November 14. Whether you join us live or listen to the recording, you'll get the background information on the trends and tips on disrupting habits and questioning the status quo.

Then, on November 22nd you'll gather with colleagues (virtually or in person at locations around the world) to brainstorm about how these trends are impacting – and will impact – the global careers landscape. You'll network and share best practices for our work with clients in light of this new information.

The megatrends we'll be discussing this year include:

The New Retirement: The Silent Generation and Baby Boomers – who developmentally would expect to be winding down their careers – are persisting due to extended quality of life with medical technology advances and financial requirements caused by the last recession. How are coaches guiding them to negotiate new careers with flexibility? What personal branding strategies are writers and coaches using to combat ageism? How are we adjusting our marketing and process to attract this audience and meet their needs?

Diversity & Bias: In the age of #metoo and heightened focus on race, religion, and other forms of discrimination, diversity and inclusion are increasingly important in the workplace for professionals at all levels. How are we coaching clients to understand their unconscious bias? How are we guiding them to communicate their skills in managing diversity? What techniques are aiding them to avoid bias throughout the hiring process? How is recruiting evolving to minimize bias throughout the process?

Generation Z: The next generation is entering the workforce (typically defined as those born between 1995 and 2010). They bring a new outlook and expectations about the workplace shaped by technology and growing up as digital natives in the Great Recession. How are coaches and resume writers changing their service delivery to meet their needs? What challenges are they facing and how are career services adapting and evolving to provide solutions? What resume, social branding, and other career communication strategies are we using to help them compete in a crowded market?

Artificial Intelligence (AI): AI is infiltrating the hiring process, affecting HR management practices, and automating jobs across the globe. How will job search, personal branding, and career marketing adjust as technology advances? How will recruiting and hiring change? How do we account for the rise of technology in career advising and management?

Remote Work: As technology and globalization become commonplace in most industries, remote work has grown exponentially across industries and geographies. How are we guiding clients in finding and marketing themselves for remote work? How is recruiting evolving to better fill these positions? How are we coaching clients to maintain visibility and manage their digital brands to overcome salary gaps faced by remote workers and to advance their careers?

Positive Psychology & Wellbeing: Companies are witnessing the cost of burnout and the conversation has turned to meditation, unplugging, and resilience. What coaching strategies are we using to help professionals avoid burnout and build their resilience? How are HR and other internal champions shifting corporations to prioritize wellbeing? How are we using the concepts of positive psychology to improve clients' ability to manage increasing uncertainty in their careers?

Emotional Intelligence: As technology threatens to replace a significant number of jobs, emotional intelligence has taken center stage as a differentiator and key skill for career longevity. What tools are we using to operationalize the concept of emotional intelligence for clients? What coaching strategies are effective in improving emotional intelligence? How is recruiting evolving to screen for emotional intelligence? How are we demonstrating a client's emotional intelligence in their career communications and throughout job search?

A facilitator will guide each group of career colleagues through a discussion while encouraging dynamic conversations on the topics.
