It struck me that some of the skills we’re trying to develop in ourselves to be better parents are [...] ... Read more

Happiness: Your CFO Title or Something Else?

Who didn’t read the inspiring story of Bubba Watson and notice three things: – His humility; – Golf isn’t #1 in his life, although he’s a total winner at golf having won the Master’s on April 8th; and – His joy in life isn’t rooted in winning at his job. “What do you have in your life that makes you happy when you don’t win?”

What about you? Have you given thought ... ... Read more

Executive Coach’s Tip: Begin the Week with Some Momentum

Get your week off to a GREAT START .... Try one, some or all of these things today:
  • Refrain from participating in "gossip" -- Move away from situations and exchanges where someone is talking negatively about another person.  Don't let yourself go there....
  • Encourage a work colleague -- Particularly someone who appears to be visibly struggling with something.  Give some words of encouragement to lift them up.
  • Fulfill a recent promise you made to someone -- It's probably been on your mind or sitting on your "to do" list undone.  DO IT today.
  • Avoid complaining ...

Executive Coach’s Tip: Avoid Working in Isolation

Want to know a secret that GREAT relationship builders use constantly?  They avoid working in isolation.  They work WITH others.  They work THROUGH others.  They SEEK the ADVICE and counsel of others.  They ask for the OPINION of others.  They run things by their colleagues, their advisors, their peers. They COLLABORATE. MOST of the time, however, opportunities abound to involve others, to absorb their wisdom, to tap their knowledge and experience. Avoid working in isolation.  Involve others...
