Yahoo CEO Scott Thompson – he of the phantom computer science degree that found its way on his official resume filed with the SEC– was either fired or resigned.
The question remains; whose fault was it that the resume mistake wasn’t caught earlier?
The now-departed Thompson said that exec search firm Heidrick & Struggles was to blame; somebody on the search firm interviewed him for a role with eBay years ago when the error originally occurred, took incorrect information, and that’s how it got in the system and on to his Yahoo resume...

This month’s Yahoo kerfluffle – a company that desperately needs this type of stuff least – involves the misstated resume of new Yahoo CEO Scott Thompson.
Liar Liar: CEO Scott Thompson.
You’ll recall that Thompson replaced Carol Bartz several months ago. Bartz was fired via a phone call from Yahoo’s chairman. Candor and accuracy was and is never an issue with Bartz, something that probably did not advance her career with the Yahoo board.
Instead of stating (just) a BS in accounting from Stonehill College, Thompson’s official resume, the one that gets filed with the SEC, listed accounting
and computer sciences. Turns out the school didn’t offer CS degrees at the time Thompson graduated...

Yes. No. Maybe?
You can tell when the economy’s improved because there’s an uptick of interviews. More experienced managers revisit what they’ve done before that’s worked well when hiring and novice supervisors surface this season’s new crop of oddball, silly questions.

Do you have what you need in your life to grow?
Unless you’re oblivious, a narcissist, or the uncommonly lucky, everyone has career regrets. There are jobs not offered, “just” promotions denied, and layoffs that should have been someone else’s, not yours (or mine).
The choice is to dwell with these setbacks, extolling the unfairness and hurt and stay anchored in the past, or use them to move forward and

The note from a friend was very kind.
“
I have been presented with a professional opportunity and so I am in search of a career & transition coach to talk through the process. I have always been impressed with and inspired by what you have to say in person and online and I am hoping you would be available for us to book some time . . and wanted to know what your rates are. . .”
Rates? For conversation?
At most, the cost of a medium non-fat hot chocolate (
hold the whipped cream, please).
If it’s a real project and piece of something we’d call “work” I can spec out what a fair fee might be but I don’t think
