Executive Coach’s Tip: Say NO to Say Yes

Great leaders, top performers and high achievers are constantly receiving requests for their time. Their success and ability to get things done is like a powerful magnet ... drawing more and more requests toward them. Learning to be SELECTIVE in what you say YES to is a key time management and productivity skill that highly effective leaders MUST master. Saying "NO" can be difficult, particularly with respect to requests for things you LIKE to do or from people you feel you "OWE" some time to. Executive Coach’s Tip: Make Feedback a Habit

Feedback .... in the world of business, is the breakfast of champions.  Feedback "feeds" us -- it's at the top of the food pyramid for learning and professional development. Try This Today – Withhold the Answer

If you're a leader, manager, business owner, you're likely looked upon by many as the "answer man" or "answer woman" -- the person who has the answer, who can solve the problem, who can decide what to do next, etc. But .... fulfilling THAT role puts you in a place of DEPENDENCY -- others depend on you for "the answers" -- things get log-jammed if they can't get to you, people wait, opportunities may be lost.

  • Refrain from participating in "gossip" -- Move away from situations and exchanges where someone is talking negatively about another person.  Don't let yourself go there....
  • Encourage a work colleague -- Particularly someone who appears to be visibly struggling with something.  Give some words of encouragement to lift them up.
  • Fulfill a recent promise you made to someone -- It's probably been on your mind or sitting on your "to do" list undone.  DO IT today.
  • Avoid complaining ...
